Nyerere Resource Centre (KAVAZI)

The Nyerere Resource Centre (NRC), or Kavazi la Mwalimu Nyerere in Kiswahili, was launched in March 2015 by the former President of the United Republic of Tanzania Mr. Benjamin William Mkapa. It is a semi-autonomous unit under the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH), being one of the outcomes of the Mwalimu Nyerere Biography Project. Under that Project, three Tanzanian scholars were awarded a grant by COSTECH to write Mwalimu Nyerere’s biography.

Reading Room

The NRC Reading Room is located on the ground floor COSTECH building. Various documents collected by the biographers from different sources are catalogued and stored in the Room. It also has a collection of some books (donated by well wishers) which are not easily available or accessible. There is space for eight persons at a time and is open from 8.30 am to 3.00 pm. Monday to Friday
